Biography

Edna M. Owens

Edna M. Owens is a dynamic laywoman and witness for Christ.

A native of the great state of Mississippi, Sister Owens is proud to own Christ as both Savior and Lord.

She attended the Lima Perry Local Schools in Cridersville, Ohio and then attended Bowling Green State University.

In May of 2015 Lady Owens earned the masters degree and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Divinity, Honoris Causa from the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary. 

Lady Owens is a much sought after speaker and teacher, whose gifts have made room for her in churches across the United States. She is welcomed to return to pulpits annually by Pastors who applaud her skillful handling of the truth of God’s word as well as her ability to challenge and inspire the hearers to become doers of the Word. She is the founder and director of SAGE Ministries, a wisdom ministry aimed at those who esteem spiritual values highly and want to grow in the Lord.

She is on staff of WBTS as the instructor for the Christian Education Seminar. In 2016 Dr. Owens was named the first Dean of the W. H. Jernigan Chapel and in 2022 became the first female to join the illustrious board of trusteesof the seminary. 

Lady Owens served in ministry with her late Husband, Bishop D. Lee Owens for more than 25 years. The Owens were blessed with three children. Pastor Darrell L. Owens, Heather L. Owens , and Elder LeVon D. Owens-Calloway.

God also placed several chosen children in the Owen's family. Reverend Lora Adams-King, PA, Elder Morris E. Queen and Co-Pastors Marvin and Veda McCoy of MD.

Lady Owens is a member of Abyssinia Baptist Church in Capitol Heights, where her Pastor is Dr. Robert W. Trice Jr.

One of 41 minister' s wives from around the world chosen to write a devotional for the Ministers' Wives Devotional bible released in 2000 by Thomas Nelson publishers, Lady Owens has also written several articles for the Herald which is the official publication of the International Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows Association.
